<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing deformed cross section band steel, eliminating cutting chatter and generation of uneven lateral width, which are demerits of conventional cutting with a cutting tool. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing deformed cross section band steel to form a deformed cross section includes cutting at least both edges (We, We) of the band steel upper face (Wu) using the cutting tool while winding the band steel with a recoiler (15) by unwinding band steel (W) of a rectangular shape in cross section wound around an uncoiler (3). In this method, a relative position of the band steel to the cutting tool is adjusted by feedback control based on images in a plan view obtained by photographing both cutting surfaces of the cut band steel to make both cutting surfaces uniform.
