PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide leather, which has flexibility, distinct elastic softness superior to that of the original leather, as well as no more elongation than that of the original leather and having restoring force, by retanning leather by using glutaraldehyde as a tanning agent. SOLUTION: The leather is obtained through steps of: (1) carrying out pretreatment prior to tanning; (2) tanning by using glutaraldehyde as a tanning agent; (3) retanning by using retanning agent comprising a synthetic tanning agent containing an aromatic sulfonic acid, a synthetic tanning agent containing glyoxal, and a retanning agent comprising a resin including a polymer of an acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylate and methacrylate, a mixture of these and a copolymer of these, and further using a retanning agent containing an aluminum compound, and treating with a fat-liquoring agent after dyeing; and (4) post-treating after retanning.
