PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardener composition which can improve the fluidity of kneaded sand, and further, can stably maintain quality, and to provide a method for producing a mold using the same. SOLUTION: The hardener composition for a water-soluble phenol resin used for the production of a mold, comprises: an ester compound having 1 to 5 ester bonds in the molecule; and alkyl silicate having 1-8C alkyl groups or a low condensation thereof, and the moisture content in the hardener composition is ≤2 wt.%.
