PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid ejecting apparatus which can surely perform selection and maintenance of fluid ejecting heads while simplifying the configuration, and to provide a maintenance method in the fluid ejecting apparatus. SOLUTION: The fluid ejecting apparatus includes recording heads 29 with nozzles formed on a nozzle forming surface 31, a plurality of maintenance devices 68 corresponding to the recording heads, a maintenance cap 63 which supports each maintenance device in a disposition state corresponding to the recording head, a lift 64 which moves the maintenance cap between the position where each maintenance device approaches the recording head and the position where each maintenance device is separated from the recording head, and an individual moving mechanism which individually moves each maintenance device on the maintenance cap for each of a plurality of maintenance device groups that include the maintenance device along a direction in which the maintenance device included in the maintenance device group approaches and separates from the corresponding recording head.
