Disclosed is a communication system that performs communication between mobile station devices and a base station device that form at least one cell, wherein the base station device is equipped with: a synchronization signal generation unit that generates a synchronization signal corresponding to a cell identifier which identifies the cell; and a transmission unit that generates a first transmission signal that includes the synchronization signal using a first parameter obtained from the cell identifier, generates a second transmission signal that does not include the synchronization signal using a second parameter obtained from a virtual cell identifier which differs from the cell identifier, transmits the first transmission signal using a first frequency band, and transmits the second transmission signal using a second frequency band which differs from the first frequency band. The mobile station devices have a reception unit that uses the first parameter obtained from the cell identifier to receive a first reception signal that includes the synchronization signal via the first frequency band, and that uses the second parameter obtained from the virtual cell identifier to receive a second reception signal via the second frequency band.
