<p>Transportable pod 201 comprises battery 17, solid state memory device 18 and inductive connector 19. The pod can inductively exchange data or power with a docking station via the connector. In an embodiment, remote host docking station 200 comprises inductive connector 26. Pod 201 sends power to and receives data from docking station 200 via inductively coupled connection 19, 26. In another embodiment, pod 201 receives power from and sends data to home docking station 200 via connection 19, 26. Thus, the arrangement can allow the transfer of data and power between docking stations via the pod, especially the transfer of power from a home station to a remote station and the transfer of data from a remote station to a home station. Preferably, the pod and remote docking station are adapted to operate in an underwater or subsea environment in which arrangement the data is collected from one or more sensors connected to the remote docking station.</p> |
