PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life, light weight and thin organic EL display element, and its manufacturing method, that eliminates as much as possible the influence of moisture and oxygen in atmosphere by improving the sealing failure and has little deterioration by passage of time and can maintain the initial performance for a long time. SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescence display element comprises an organic luminous layer 3 which is clipped between an electrode 2, of which at least one is transparent or semitransparent, and an opposing electrode 4 on the substrate 1, and a sealing layer covering the organic luminous layer and the opposing electrode. The sealing layer comprises at least a first sealing layer 5 made of non-organic substance and a second sealing layer 6 made of metal alkoxide, hydrolysate of the alkoxide or mixture of those. |
