319,249. Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle. Sept. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Yarns, treating with liquids; carbonizing fibres. -Condensation products obtained by the interaction of benzoin, an aromatic sulphonic acid, and an aliphatic, cyclic or aromatic-aliphatic alcohol, simultaneously or in any order, in the presence of an acid condensing agent, are used as wetting agents in the textile industries. Examples of applications of the products include : (1) The condensation product prepared from benzoin, sulphonated naphthalene and isopropyl alcohol is used as an assistant in carbonizing wool. (2) Wool yarn placed on the surface of a 0.2 per cent aqueous solution of the product obtained from benzoin, isopropyl alcohol and sulphonated naphthalene is rapidly wetted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that in preparing the condensation products, an aromatic carboxylic acid, such as a benzene or oxynaphthalene carboxylic acid, may be used instead of an aromatic sulphonic acid, and that benzoin may be replaced by a homologue or substitution product thereof. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
|
