PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing reduced-iron and an apparatus for cooling the reduced-iron pellet capable of achieving low facility cost by cooling the pellet reduced in a rotary hearth type reducing furnace at comparatively short time without re-oxidizing the pellet, in the manufacture of the reduced-iron for blast furnace. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the reduced-iron using the rotary hearth type reducing furnace, the reduced-iron pellet reduced in the rotary hearth type reducing furnace is cooled to the temperature of 200-400°C under inert gas atmosphere with a rotary cooler, and thereafter, the reduced-iron pellet is further cooled by the direct water spray of the cooling water in the air. In this time, the reduced-iron pellet is dropped from the upper part of an inclined chute and in the air on the way of the dropping-down, the pellet is further cooled by direct water spray of the cooling water.
