<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that necessity for developing a dyeing method that obtains strong colorings based on ortho-diphenol, especially based on a natural extract abundant in ortho-diphenol and on the other hand, suppresses bleaching of keratin fiber, is required, and especially, necessity for obtaining colorings that have low invasiveness to the hair, stand external factors (light, bad weather, shampoo treatment), are persistent and homogeneous and maintain strength and dyeability is required. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for dyeing a keratinous fiber includes treating the keratinous fiber with (i) at least one ortho-diphenol derivative, (ii) at least one metal salt, (iii) at least hydrogen peroxide or one system for forming hydrogen peroxide and (iv) at least one (bi)carbonate.
