METHOD FOR DETECTING GROUND GLASS OPACITY USING COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY OF CHEST

PURPOSE: A method for detecting ground glass opacity using chest computed tomography is provided to automatically detect an abnormality in a lung from a computerized axial tomography scan(CT) image, based on the candidates of the ground glass opacity. CONSTITUTION: A chest CT image is obtained for automatically detecting ground glass opacity(S10). A lung region is extracted from a chest CT image(S20). Two dimensional images of the lung region are reconstructed to obtain a three-dimensional image of the lung region(S30). The three-dimensional image is scanned to extract ground glass opacity candidates(S40). Based on the ground glass opacity candidates, the detection of the ground glass opacity is verified(S50).
