The invention relates to a method for oxychlorinating ethylene to 1,2-dichlorethane in a gas circulation method using reduced hydrogen levels, having the following steps: (A) introducing ethylene, oxygen, and hydrogen chloride as reactants in an oxychlorination reactor, wherein the hydrogen chloride comprises hydrogen, (B) converting the reactants using a catalyst comprising 3.5 to 12.5 weight % copper as a copper salt, 0.1 to 1.0 weight % magnesium as a magnesium salt, 0.1 to 1.0 weight % potassium as a potassium salt on a carrier substance, to form 1,2-dichlorethane and water, thereby at least partially converting the hydrogen present into water, (C) reprocessing the reactor discharge and returning the circulating gas to the oxychlorination reactor.
|
