PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a conditional access module on an IEEE1394 network. SOLUTION: A conditional access subunit connected to an IEEE 1394 network includes: a receiving means for receiving AV/C conditional access commands from another subunit over the IEEE 1394 network; and a transmitting means for transmitting an AV/C response over the IEEE 1394 network in response to the AV/C conditional access commands.
