<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that facilitates viewing a displayed image by reducing effect of external light entering a curved panel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: To measure intensity of the external light entering a curved crystal liquid panel 100, three light sensors 21 to 23 are arranged on the liquid crystal panel 100. Based on the intensity measured by the light sensors 21 to 23, a back light emits light for each of sub-blocks configured by dividing blocks 31 to 33 configuring the back light. In this case, as the liquid crystal display device increases luminance of light of the back light emitted from the sub-blocks in an area where the intensity of the external light is high, and lowers luminance of the light of the back light emitted from the sub-blocks in an area where the intensity of the external light is low, contrast of the image displayed on the liquid crystal panel 100 is improved, and the image becomes more easily viewable.
