PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic-substance-containing particles excellent in development in chromatography, a method for manufacturing the magnetic-substance-containing particles, particles for immunoassay using the magnetic-substance-containing particles and immunochromatography using the magnetic-substance-containing particles. SOLUTION: The magnetic-substance-containing particles includes a shell layer on the surface of a core particle containing an inorganic oxide or polymer, wherein the shell layer contains a magnetite particle and sodium silicate. The magnetic-substance-containing particles have a volume average particle diameter of 10 to 500 nm, a CV value of the number average particle diameter of 8% or less and a saturated magnetization at 25°C of 15 emu/g or higher.
