PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device that is attachable/detachable from the body of an image forming apparatus, removes residual toner from an image carrier, is miniaturized, and improves the image quality. SOLUTION: A driving source 180 and a series driving gear sequence 220 are directly or indirectly attached to the body 101. The cleaning device includes a housing, first and second cleaning brushes 1 and 4 mounted in the housing, a docking gear 203 meshing with the gear 182 arranged in a sequence end of the drive gear sequence 220 when the cleaning device is attached to the body, and first gear 201 and second gear 204 disposed at longitudinal ends of the first cleaning brush 1.
