<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method and device detecting a penetration source of rainwater easily and accurately. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the inspection method of a rain leaking in a building and the inspection device used therefor, a clay material having plasticity, adhesiveness, and water resistance is prepared, and the clay material is pressed and attached in the watertight state in contact with the surface on the periphery of a sheathing of the building where a cause of the rain leaking is supposed to exist, to thereby form a liquid receiving member, and liquid is injected into the liquid receiving member, and the cause of the rain leaking is detected.
