Carbon dioxide fixation involves producing sodium hydroxide through electrolysis (10) of a saturated saline solution, in which sodium chloride reacts with water to give sodium hydroxide, chlorine and hydrogen gases. The recovered sodium hydroxide is added to sea water, so that magnesium chloride and calcium chloride from sea water react with sodium hydroxide to form magnesium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide. Carbon dioxide gas is introduced into the formed magnesium and potassium hydroxide for receiving magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate.
|
