Surface modified cellulose nanofibrils

摘要

A process for manufacturing surface modified cellulose nanostructures comprises the step of reacting a first amount of cellulose nanostructures with a second amount of an alkoxysilane compound. Thereby, said surface modified cellulose nanofibrils are formed having a fraction ± of hydroxyl functional groups present at the surface being condensed to the alkoxysilane compound. This is followed by the step of isolating said surface modified cellulose nanostructures.
