A telescopic overhead track allows a load bearing device, e.g. a bogie 6 or a roller, to run smoothly over the entire length of the top surface of the track. The track comprises an outer track member formed by two track elements 1,2, and an inner track member 3 which can be slid telescopically within the outer track. The inner track 3 may receive a central roller engaging member [52, Figure 5] to allow a roller [51, Figure 5] to pass smoothly over one or both track members. The inner track member 3 is of a substantially "I"-shaped profile and is sandwiched between the two outer track elements 1,2. Bogie 6 comprises a pair of wheels 4,5 and has a guide member 10 which is able to engage both inner and outer tracks. The bogie is provided with a patient attachment tape 7. |
