PURPOSE: A multi-cylinder engine is provided to reduce the fuel consumption by deactivating cylinders in sequence during a cylinder deactivation mode. CONSTITUTION: A multi-cylinder engine comprises injectors(230a,230b,230c,230d,230e) and an engine control unit(240). The injectors directly injects fuel into cylinders(220), respectively. The engine control unit stops the fuel injection of one of the injectors in order to deactivate the corresponding cylinder. During the cylinder deactivation mode, the cylinders are deactivated in sequence. |
