PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image at a good opportunity for shooting that matches a desired main subject. SOLUTION: A control unit (CPU) 20 sets a detection area 101 within an angle of field for a live-view display area. Further, the control unit (CPU) 20 is enabled to specify a kind of a main subject image to be recorded, and an outline (silhouette image), color information, a distribution pattern, etc., showing features of the main subject image. In a photography standby mode, automatic shutter photography processing is performed on detecting a predetermined operation by the main subject image having features of the outline, color information, distribution pattern, etc., for the set detection area 101.
