<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection image display device which prevents the infiltration of dust due to suction of air from the outside of a set by a fan to the inside of the device, even if the dust infiltrates to the inside of the set, prevents the dust from adhering to an image display element and optical parts, and maintains proper performance. <P>SOLUTION: The projection image display device is constituted to shake off the adhered dust, by vibrating a pre-filter electrically kept at the nearly same potential as a dust collecting electrode by a vibration applying part successively from an air intake side, and is provided with a dust charging part constituted of a discharge electrode and a counter electrode, and a dust collection part having a high-voltage electrode and the dust collecting electrode which collect the dust charged by the dust charging part, wherein a charged main filter mechanically sucking dust from air passing through the dust collection part is arranged, and a ventilation fan sending the sucked air is provided.
