APPARATUS WITH OPTICAL SECURITY MODULE COUPLED TO DECODER AND INTEGRATED CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR USING SAME

An apparatus for use with a light source and a wireless reader includes a substrate having a surface and an integrated circuit carried by the substrate and adapted for wireless communication with the wireless reader. A decoder is carried by the substrate and electrically coupled to the integrated circuit. A light sensor is carried by the substrate and adapted for sensing light emitted by the light source. The light sensor is electrically coupled to the decoder. Machine readable graphic code is provided on the surface and contains activation information for use by the light source to cause the decoder to activate the integrated circuit when specified light is emitted by the light source and sensed by the light sensor. Upon activation the integrated circuit wirelessly communicates with the wireless reader. A method is provided.
