A digital broadcast recording receives a digital broadcast signal with a main audio signal and a sub audio signal, and records the digital broadcast signal to a recording medium. The digital broadcast recording device includes decision means and recording means. The decision means decides whether or not the recording medium is compatible with a dual mono mode during a PS (Program Stream) recording mode in which the digital broadcast signal is recorded by a PS recording. The recording means records the sub audio signal along with the main audio in a stereo mode when the decision means decides that the recording medium is not compatible with the dual mono mode, and records the sub audio signal and the main audio signal in the dual mono mode when the decision means decides that the recording medium is compatible with the dual mono mode. |
