OPTICAL MODULE AND OPTICAL NETWORK UNIT WITH DEFECT DETECTION IN PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK

PURPOSE: An optical module and an optical network unit with defect detection in a passive optical network are provided to prevent the occurrence of an optical signal transmission failure in an optical subscriber network. CONSTITUTION: A laser diode driving unit(622) drives a laser diode(621), and a conversion unit(623) converts the optical signal outputted from the laser diode into an electric signal. A direct current component remover(624) removes the direct current component of the converted electric signal, and a control unit(625) analyzes the electric signal outputted from the direct current component removal. The controller inactivates the laser diode driving unit according to the analyzed result.
