<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical burning furnace for burning powder having good combustion efficiency and excellent controllability of a heat curve. <P>SOLUTION: The vertical burning furnace for burning powder is constituted by stacking, in a plurality of stages, the first units 1 each formed by lining a fire proofing wall on the inner face of a cylindrical shell, the second units 2 each formed by lining a fire proofing wall on the inner face of a cylindrical shell and having a heating means, and the third units 3 each formed by lining a fire proofing wall on the inner face of a cylindrical shell and having a gas introduction port and a gas discharge port, and achieves the intended heat curve comprising a preheating region 18, a burning region 19, and a cooling region 20.
