PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appearance inspecting apparatus for accurate inspection by inspecting shape of a solder fillet having a steep portion. SOLUTION: An appearance inspecting apparatus 1 inspects apparent shape of a solder fillet 2 which joins a substrate 3 to a surface mounting component 4 which is surface-mounted on the substrate 3. The appearance inspecting apparatus includes a laser projecting part 10 which projects a laser beam to the solder fillet 2, a first light receiving unit 21 which receives reflection light from the solder fillet 2, a second light receiving unit 22 which receives a laser beam having been reflected on the solder fillet 2 and then on the substrate 3, and a third light receiving unit 23 which receives a laser beam reflected on the substrate 3 or on the surface mounting component 4.
