The present invention refers to a sports footwear article, in particular a motorcycling boot, and to a method for producing the same; the sports footwear article comprises a soft upper (4) and a shell (2) permanently associated to the upper (4) by overinjection moulding; the shell (2) comprises a toe portion (9) and a tongue (3), which has a substantially longitudinal extension and is arranged to extend over the top region of the wearer's foot; the tongue (3) is formed as a unitary single-piece construction with a toe piece (29) separately obtained from the shell (2) and permanently attached to the same shell (2) by fusion-bonding the contact surfaces of the toe piece (29) with the toe portion (9); the tongue (3) is separated from and independent of the upper (4) all along its longitudinal extension.
