<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-diffusion apparatus easy to clean a branch pipe and capable of enhancing washing effect of an immersion type membrane separation apparatus at an area just above a main pipe. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The air diffusion apparatus has the main pipe 37 in a horizontal direction, and the branch pipe 38 detachably mounted to the main pipe 37. The branch pipe 38 has a lateral pipe member 40 positioned below the main pipe 37 and arranged in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the main pipe 37, a communication pipe member 43 having an upper end communicating with the lower end of the main pipe 37 in freely attachable/detachable manner and having the lower end communicating with the lateral pipe member 40, and a connection member 44 detachable onto the outer peripheral part of the main pipe 37.
