PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reinforcing a sill by which the sill can be firmly fixed to a foundation when a bearing force of the foundation for the sill is reduced due to degradation etc. of an anchor bolt. SOLUTION: A reinforcing metal member 5 formed into a U-letter shape in cross section for covering from an upper surface to both sides of the sill 2 covers the sill section between adjacently arranged columns 3, 3 erected on the sill 2. An upper end horizontal plate part 5a of the reinforcing metal member 5 is received on the upper face of the sill 2, and two side plate parts 5b, 5b hang over the two sides of the sill 2 and the foundation 1. Then, with nuts 9, lower-end flange parts 5c, 5c of the side plate parts 5b, 5b are fastened to anchor bolts 7 buried in a footing 1a of the foundation 1, by which the horizontal plate part 5a of the reinforcing metal member 5 is suitable for the upper surface of the sill 2 under pressure and, thus, the sill 2 is firmly fixed to the foundation 1 with the reinforcing metal piece 5.
