PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing more efficiently than before a magnetic head slider with length less than 1.2 mm. SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider is manufactured by using a compound substrate 10a for magnetic head, which includes a substrate 11a for magnetic head with thickness less than 1.2 mm and a support substrate 12a having the same thermal expansion coefficient as that of the substrate 11a for magnetic head.
