The objective is to solve the problem with respect to the distribution of content using a memory cache with limited capacity whereby the entire content is stored in the memory cache even when access is made only to a portion of the content, and thus the efficiency of utilization of the memory cache is poor. This content distribution device includes: a content retention means (102) which stores content to be distributed; a cache retention means (103) which temporarily stores the content to be distributed; a content distribution means (100) which distributes the content stored in the cache retention means or the content retention means; and a cache control means (101) which controls the storage and deletion of content with respect to the cache retention means. The cache control means (101) partitions the content into multiple blocks, and controls storage and deletion with respect to the cache retention means on a block-by-block basis based on cache control information which sets a deletion wait time which is the time until each of said blocks is deleted from the cache retention means.
