摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing an arrangement of signal points in order to enhance an overall error rate in optical quadrature amplitude modulation. <P>SOLUTION: A first optical communication apparatus modulates and transmits continuous light in accordance with a predetermined signal point arrangement, and a second optical communication apparatus receives the modulated light from the first optical communication apparatus and measures a maximum value of deviations at signal points.
