<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing an arrangement of signal points in order to enhance an overall error rate in optical quadrature amplitude modulation. <P>SOLUTION: A first optical communication apparatus modulates and transmits continuous light in accordance with a predetermined signal point arrangement, and a second optical communication apparatus receives the modulated light from the first optical communication apparatus and measures a maximum value of deviations at signal points. On the basis of the deviations at the signal points measured by the second optical communication apparatus, the first optical communication apparatus or the second optical communication apparatus modifies the predetermined signal point arrangement and the first optical communication apparatus stores the modified signal point arrangement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
