<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the configuration of a variable capacitor that becomes a writing pressure detection part. <P>SOLUTION: The variable capacitor 10 of the position indicator 100 includes a dielectric 1, an electrode 2, a conductive member 3 and a conductive portion 4. The dielectric 1 has an upper surface 1a and a lower surface 1b opposite the upper surface. The electrode 2 is provided on the upper surface 1a of the dielectric 1. The conductive member 3 is arranged so as to face the lower surface 1b of the dielectric 1, and adapted to be elastically deformed in contact with the lower surface 1b by an external force to change the area opposed to the electrode 2.
