PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a synthetic image having a high level of an image characteristic even when an image having a low level of an image characteristic is selected as a synthesizing object. SOLUTION: The image editing device including an image storing part 28 for storing a plurality of pieces of image data, and a synthesizing part 32 for synthesizing at least two pieces of image data selected as a synthesizing object among the plurality of pieces of image data stored in the image storing part to obtain one piece of synthetic image data is provided with: a detecting part 34 for detecting the level of an image characteristic of the synthetic image data to be obtained by the synthesizing part; and a re-creating image data part 35 for acquiring synthesizing object image data re-created from first image data in accordance with the level of the synthetic image data on the basis of a detection result of the detecting part when prescribed image data are selected as the synthesizing object, wherein the synthesizing part obtains synthetic image data subjected to synthesizing processing by using the synthesizing object image data instead of the prescribed image data in the case of acquiring the synthesizing object image data.
