The clutch has a releasing mechanism axially shifting an axially displaceable control part proportional to an axially fixed adjusting nut during occurrence of an overload. A measuring unit (5) includes a transmitter and a receiver for communication with a distant base (1), where the measuring unit transmits a periodic status message to the distant base. The measuring unit receives a command in periodic, programmable intervals, for parameterizing the clutch from the base. The measuring unit records operational data e.g. status of an energy source, of the clutch. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting an overload situation in an overload clutch.
