<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable light from a reflector to be irradiated in an irradiation direction of a projector type vehicle headlight through a prism, while simplifying a structure of the reflector. <P>SOLUTION: In the projector type vehicle headlight 100 with a prism 3b arranged below the top edge part 3a of a shade 3 forming a cutoff line P1L on a light distribution pattern P, the top edge part 3a of the shade 3 is arranged at a side nearer to a first focus F1 than a second focus F2 of an elliptical system reflective face 2a of the reflector 2, the prism 3b is arranged so as its cross-section shape in a vertical plane including a light axis L to be nearly of a reverse triangle, so that light L3 progressing upward and forward from a lower side part 2a2 of the elliptical system reflective face 2a of the reflector 2 is made incident into the prism 3b progresses downward and forward internally reflected at a top face 3b1 of the prism 3b to be made incident into a lower-side part 4b of a projection lens 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
