PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable umbrella with a safety device capable of preventing unexpected extension of a central shaft when closing the umbrella. SOLUTION: The foldable umbrella having the central shaft extendable/contractible by a telescopic pipe and an automatic umbrella opening mechanism for opening the umbrella while extending the central shaft has a control rope connected to the central shaft for suppressing the unexpected extension of the central shaft when closing the umbrella and a storage unit for storing the control rope by winding a part of the control rope from one end of the control rope.
