PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embossing method of a thermoplastic resin film having a high productivity, in which a predetermined embossing protrusion height can be obtained with no fusion of the film to an embossing ring when an embossing is applied to the thermoplastic resin film. SOLUTION: In an embossing apparatus, an embossed pattern of the protrusion along a conveying direction is formed on the film in a strip form at the side marginal part of the thermoplastic resin film 1. The embossing method comprises the step of heating the film temperature before the embossing up to Tg-25°C-Tg, and heating a roll to which the embossing is applied to Tg-below a fusing point.
