<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device which prevents irregular color of a composite image and also suppresses lowering of luminance of the composite image by making optical path lengths of respective separated color light beams equal. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display device includes: an illumination optical system 10 emitting light including a plurality of color light beams having different wavelength; a color separation optical system 30 separating the light emitted from the illumination optical system 10 to a plurality of color light beams; a plurality of image forming apparatuses 20 provided respectively corresponding to the plurality of color light beams emitted from the color separation optical system 30; a color synthesizing optical system 40 synthesizing the color light beams respectively emitted from the plurality of image forming apparatuses 20 and forming the synthetic light L; and a projection optical system 50 projecting the synthetic light L. Geometric distances from the illumination optical system 10 to the respective corresponding image forming apparatuses 20 are the same as each other on the optical paths of the plurality of color light beams, and relay optical systems 60 which have a plurality of lenses and whose equivalent focal distances are equal are respectively arranged on the optical paths of the plurality of color light beams. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
