The present invention relates to compounds having estrogenic activity selected from the group consisting of Loliolide, (4S,6S)-4-Hydroxy-6-nonadecyl-tetrahydro-pyran-2-one, (4R,6S)-4-Hydroxy-6-nonadecyl-tetrahydro-pyran-2-one and analogues thereof. The compounds of the present invention are selective estrogen receptor modulator, which can selectively activate ER&bgr; and simultaneously express high estrogenic activity, and also can be applied as medical or food compositions to improve estrogen deficiency-related symptoms.
