<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease standby power consumption and to suppress manufacturing cost in an optical disc device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A DVD player, which is an optical disc device, includes: an insert detection switch 36; a conveyer roller 37; and a conveyer roller driver driving the conveyer roller 37 via a driving gear 41. One end 37a1 of the rotational shaft 37a of the conveyer roller 37 is fixed in a cabinet 10; the other end 37a2 thereof is movable in a direction where a DVD disc d presses the insert detection switch 36 when the disc d is inserted into an insert slot 16. Insertion of the DVD disc into the insert slot 16 moves the other end 37a2, thereby making a plane portion of the driving gear 41 move to press and turn on the insert detection switch 36. The insert detection switch 36 urges and press back the driving gear in a direction opposite to the insert direction by means of an internal spring, thereby fixing the conveyer roller 37 in place.
