PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a compound which suppresses plasmepsin II activity is provided to suppress action of plasmepsin II and to prevent and treat malaria. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating malaria contains a compound suppressing activity by binding to plasmepsin II activation site or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The compound is 2-anylino-4-(3-furil)-6-oxo-N-phenyl-1-cyclohexene-1-carboximide, 2-{[N-(2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxine-6-yl)-N-(methyl sulfonyl)glycyl[amino}-N-isobutylbanzimide, N-benzyl-2-c[3-(3-nitrophenyl)acryloyl]amino}benzamide, or N-(2-methoxy phenyl)-2-(5H-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-b]indole-3-ylthio)butaneamide. The composition additionally contains pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluents, or excipient.
