PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can appropriately perform phase alignment of a plurality of photoreceptors in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A controller detects a reference point A on the circumference on a photoreceptor for black by means of a PI sensor (S11). The controller detects an eccentric position B from a difference stored by a storage part (S12). The controller uses the eccentric position B of black as reference to control to align eccentric positions D, F and H of other colors with the eccentric position B of black. Then, whether or not the eccentric position D of yellow is kept away from the eccentric position B of black more than a predetermined angle in a rotating direction is determined (S14). When determining that the eccentric position D of yellow is not kept away therefrom more than the predetermined angle (YES in S14), rotational speed of a photoreceptor for yellow is decreased relative to present rotational speed.
