<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly having a high catalyst utilization ratio and excellent adhesiveness between a membrane and an electrode by using a hydrocarbon system binder as an electrode for the MEA in which a hydrocarbon system electrolyte membrane is used. <P>SOLUTION: In the membrane electrode assembly in which a hydrocarbon system electrolyte membrane is used, a hydrocarbon system binder is used for an electrode.
