PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-arc discharge lamp capable of surely capturing impure gas in a light-emitting tube without making discharged arc unstable. SOLUTION: In the short-arc discharge lamp having a pair of electrodes formed of a body section arranged by mutually facing inside the light-emitting tube and a bar-shaped shaft section continued to a base end side of the body section, and a hydrogen getter for absorbing a hydrogen gas remained in the light-emitting tube, the hydrogen getter is airtightly enclosed in a hollow container made of a material capable of penetrating hydrogen, a hole with a bottom is formed on a base end section of the shaft section, and the hydrogen getter airtightly enclosed in the hollow container is arranged inside the hole with a bottom.
