<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing an aromatic co-polyamide fiber by which even inorganic fine particles such as a high-specific gravity inorganic pigment can uniformly be dispersed in the fiber, with the result that the fiber has excellent mechanical characteristics such as strength without color unevenness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The aromatic co-polyamide fiber is produced. In the process, a slurry of the inorganic fine particles having ≥2 specific gravity, and dispersed in an amide-based solvent is added and mixed with 100 pts.wt. of an aromatic co-polyamide polymer solution dissolved in the amide-based solvent so as to provide ≤70 pts.wt. of the slurry. The resultant aromatic co-polyamide polymer solution mixed with the inorganic fine particles is further uniformly mixed with the aromatic co-polyamide polymer solution free from the inorganic fine particles. The obtained polymer dope is discharged from a spinneret, and passed through a coagulation step, water washing step, drying step, and hot-drawing step to provide the aromatic co-polyamide fiber.
