<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid pressure cylinder of a compact type capable of driving a load having a great inertial moment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a cylinder tube 12 of the cylinder 11, a piston 17 and a rod 18 constructed integrally with the piston 17 are stored in a movable manner. Air is supplied/exhausted into/from a first pressure operation chamber 19 and a second pressure operation chamber 20 partitioned with the piston 17 to give a combined motion of a linear motion and a rotary motion to the piston 17 and the rod 18. The piston 17 has a guide hole 41 formed passing through the piston 17 in the direction perpendicular to its axis P and spirally extending in the axial direction of the piston 17. Through the guide hole 41, a guide rod 44 is inserted which is supported at its center by the cylinder tube 12.
