摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission reducing the deformation of sheaves without increasing the size thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission includes a plurality of pulleys 10, and a transmission belt 20 bridged among the plurality of pulleys 10. Each pulley 10 includes a pulley shaft 12, a fixed sheave 14 fixed to the pulley shaft 12, and a movable sheave 16 movable forward and backward along the pulley shaft 12. The fixed sheave 14 and the movable sheave 16 are arranged opposing each other, and a width-variable pulley groove 18 is formed between both sheaves 14, 16. Annular ribs 17 are protruded on back faces 14b, 16b of the sheaves 14, 16. The annular ribs 17 prevent an increase in the thicknesses of the sheaves 14, 16 and thus improve the rigidity of the sheaves 14, 16 while preventing an increase in the size of the transmission.
